  • Squeak Squeak Squeak Admittedly my German shepherd has a soft mouth. I bought one of these balls in a pet storeblue. It was tougher than the ones that come from Amazon but Vela prefers the softer green ball. She trots around the house talking a blue streak. She'll set the ball down and stare at it as if she expects it to move then bat it to make it move. She spends at least half an hour a day playing by herself with this ball rolling around on the floor sometimes howling at it sometimes making little loving whimpering noises. See the video on youtube at []. She's obviously drawn by the blue ball but always comes back to the green one.
Dog Isqueak Ball Large This ball was perfect for our 26 pound mixed Boston Terrier/Pit Bull. She is unable to compress it enough with her jaws/teeth to tear the rubber. She is only able to barely pick it up and squeak it before it generally pops out of her mouth and we are able to pick it up and throw it again for her. We loved this ball so much I ordered 2 additional ones in order to not be without one when this one wears out or is lost. Finding a durable toy for this chewing playful 3 year old has been a challenge.
Nice ball but didn't last long with my pups I have 2 Beagle/Terrier pups that are a year and a half old technically not puppies but they're still like that to me. My girl dog likes to squeek it but the ball is beginning to crack and fall apart have had it less than 2 weeks.
Dangerous Toy Choking hazard I gave this ball to a Siberian Husky only moments ago. She ran around the living room squeaking it for a couple of minutes and we played fetch in the hall for another minute or two. Then in the time it took me to put my shoes on so we could go play outside she pulled the squeaker right out of the ball I attached a photo. Thankfully she didn't swallow it and I was right there to take it away. The size and shape of the hard plastic squeaker are perfect for lodging in a dog's or child's throat.
Not for chewers As the title implies my dog is a chewer. I learned very quickly that he was not going to play with this ball. Within a few minutes he had the squeaker removed. Now I just let me chew the rest to pieces.
Dog just not interested I have tried several of JW's toysthis ball the bouncing baseball and the giggler ball and they just sit at the bottom of the toy pile receiving no attention.
Can't recommend this item Well let me relate my experience with this item. It got here quickly. It squeaked a nice duck quack exactly twice but as I was removing the hang tag it suddenly lost it's voice. Not to worry because from past experience I already knew how good Amazon is about customer satisfaction. True to form they lived up to my opinion of them by issuing an instant refund WITHOUT HAVING ME RETURN THE ITEM. Could they possibility be any more accommodating? I think not!Otherwise even if we assume the defective squeaker was just a fluke with the one I received I still can't recommended this dog ball because after giving it to my two year old german shepherd dog for all of five minutes to see if she would have any better luck getting it to squeak than I did it already appears to have a few tooth marks on it which leads me to believe it won't last long. As Amazon was so nice about letting me keep the item for free I'll be sure to write a follow up review to report how the rubber holds together over time. I did watch her the entire time she had it and to me it didn't appear as though she was being overly destructive with it. Maybe it will hold together over time we'll see.
If you've got a chewer get large not medium I had high hopes for this ball because Buddy my Boston Terrier has performed laser like surgery several times on anything that squeaks quickly disabling and sometimes extracting the squeaking mechanism. I ordered the medium and it took him all of 5 minutes to chew around the squeaker and remove it cleanly from the ball. I just read another review that says the large ball is a good fit even for a smaller/medium dog if they're strong chewers.I'm about to order the large who needs electricity and food anyway. Buddy needs a ball dammit! I will review the large once he's had a shot at it.
These are not chew toys These types of balls were never designed to be chew toys and one should supervise their use. This isn't the type of toy where you give it to your dog and walk away hoping they entertain themselves. If you want that type of toy look to getting a Kong. But even their sqeaker ball was destroyed when I was not paying attention. I sometimes think the destruction comes from the dog's frustration at my not paying attention to her. I came to this realization after buying every squeaker ball made and my new Belgium Malinois destroyed them all. There isn't a ball made she can't destroy. So I reserve this ball for when we play together and put it away when we are done. This makes the ball super special to her and it makes me take the time to interact with her. This method means that I own the ball and allow her to play with it thus increasing the value of the ball as a reward. Since I began this practice the ball survives and my dog and I have good times together.
Our dogs new favorite toy Our Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix loves this ball he loves all things that squeek he plays with it alone but also throws it at us to throw for him it has been a great training tool. As soon as he comes back from doggie daycare wakes up in the morning etcc he goes straight to the place we keep the ball I think he is obsessed with it! He chews on it quite alot to get it to squeek but hasnt destroyed it. We have had it about a month so far.
